What the calculator shows
Tabs for D1, D3, D7, D9, D10, D12 and D60; the chart drawn for whichever is selected (North or South Indian style); a planet table with D1 sign, varga sign and house, and notes for vargottama, exalted, debilitated or own sign in that varga; and an at-a-glance row of every varga's lagna and Moon. The division rule for the chart you are looking at is stated under the title.
Which chart for which question
The birth chart (D1) is the promise; each varga is the fulfilment in one department. Read the D10 for career and public life, the D7 for children and creative output, the D9 for marriage and the inner self, the D12 for parents and lineage, the D3 for siblings, courage and effort, and the D60 for the finest grain — karma carried in, and the differences between people born minutes apart. In every case the method is the same: check the varga lagna and its lord, the relevant house and its lord, and the dignity of the planets that matter for the question.
A word about birth time
Every division multiplies the lagna's sensitivity. The D3 lagna changes about every 40 minutes, the D9 and D10 every 12–13, the D12 every 10, the D60 every 2. Planets' varga signs are steadier, especially the slow ones. If your time is approximate, trust the planet table more than the varga houses, and the D60 lagna not at all.
How this calculator works
- Chart
- Full kundli (VSOP87/ELP, Lahiri ayanamsa) from date, time and place.
- Counting rules
- D3: 1st → sign, 2nd → 5th, 3rd → 9th. D7: odd from the sign, even from the 7th. D9: movable from Aries, fixed from Capricorn, dual from Libra. D10: odd from the sign, even from the 9th. D12 and D60: from the sign itself.
- Houses
- Whole-sign houses counted from each varga lagna.
- Flags
- Vargottama = same sign as D1; dignity from the standard exaltation/own-sign table applied to the varga sign.
The same engine casts the full janam kundli, so results here and there always agree. How we check the maths →
The vargas and their rules

| D7 | Saptamsa (Saptāṁśa) | 7 | Children, progeny, creativity | Seven parts of 4°17′: odd signs count from the sign itself, even signs from the 7th sign from it. |
| D9 | Navamsa (Navāṁśa) | 9 | Marriage, spouse, inner strength | Nine parts of 3°20′: movable signs count from Aries, fixed from Capricorn, dual from Libra. |
| D10 | Dasamsa (Daśāṁśa) | 10 | Career, profession, public standing | Ten parts of 3°: odd signs count from the sign itself, even signs from the 9th sign from it. |
| D12 | Dwadasamsa (Dvādaśāṁśa) | 12 | Parents, lineage, ancestry | Twelve parts of 2°30′, always counted from the sign itself. |
| D60 | Shashtiamsa (Ṣaṣṭyaṁśa) | 60 | Past-life karma, the finest detail | Sixty parts of 0°30′, counted from the sign itself (deity names reverse for even signs). |
