In short

Gochar (transit) is the current movement of the nine grahas through the zodiac, read against your birth chart — classically from your natal Moon sign. A transit calculator shows where each planet is right now (sign, degree, nakshatra, retrograde), which house it occupies from your Moon, whether that is a favourable or testing house by the traditional tables, and when it changes sign next.

What the calculator shows

A table of all nine planets with sign, degree, nakshatra and pada, house from your Moon (with favourable/testing by the classical tables), house from your lagna, and the next sign change with its date. Above it, the three slow planets that set the tone of a year — Saturn, Jupiter and the Rahu–Ketu axis — with Sade Sati and Dhaiya flagged automatically.

Why from the Moon

Classical gochar is read from the Moon sign, because the Moon stands for the mind and transits describe what we go through. The tables are old and blunt (Saturn easy in 3, 6, 11; Jupiter easy in 2, 5, 7, 9, 11), and astrologers refine them with vedha, where a planet in the obstructing house cancels the effect, and with ashtakavarga points. We give you the first pass and say so; the refinements come with a fuller reading.

Transits and dashas together

A transit is the weather; the dasha is the season. A hard Saturn transit during a strong Jupiter mahadasha is a passing cloud; the same transit in a Saturn–Rahu period is the storm people remember. The Sade Sati calculator gives Saturn's timeline in detail; the AI astrologer can read transits and dasha against your chart together.

How this calculator works

Positions
Apparent geocentric longitudes now (VSOP87/ELP, mean node), Lahiri ayanamsa.
Houses
Counted whole-sign from the natal Moon and natal lagna.
Next ingress
Each planet's sign is sampled forward (step by its speed) and the crossing bisected to the minute.
Reading
Classical Moon-sign gochar tables; vedha and ashtakavarga not applied.
