Which gemstone should I wear according to my date of birth?

The proper answer comes from your lagna (ascendant) chart, not your birth date alone: the stones of the planets that rule your 1st, 5th and 9th houses (your life, benefic and lucky stones) are the ones astrologers recommend, and the stones of the 6th, 8th, 12th and maraka lords are the ones to avoid. Gemstone by lagna or by Moon sign: which is correct?

By lagna. The common 'rashi ratna' charts give the stone of your Moon sign's lord, but a stone is held to strengthen its planet, and whether that helps depends on what that planet does in your chart: Saturn is a benefic for Taurus and Libra lagnas and a maraka for Leo and Cancer. The lagna method asks which planets are functional benefics for you. We show the Moon-sign stone too, labelled, so you can see when the two disagree.

Life stone: the lagna lord's gem, for vitality and the self. Benefic stone: the 5th lord's gem, for intelligence, children and merit. Lucky (bhagya) stone: the 9th lord's gem, for fortune, dharma and the father. The three are the core of a lagna-based recommendation.

Ruby: ring finger, gold, Sunday. Pearl: little finger, silver, Monday. Coral: ring finger, gold or copper, Tuesday. Emerald: little finger, gold, Wednesday. Yellow sapphire: index finger, gold, Thursday. Diamond: middle or ring finger, platinum or silver, Friday. Blue sapphire: middle finger, silver or panchdhatu, Saturday. Hessonite: middle finger, silver, Saturday. Cat's eye: middle finger, silver, Tuesday or Thursday. The result lists these for your stones.

How many ratti should I wear?

Conventions vary: 3–6 ratti for most stones, larger for coral and pearl, with a rule of thumb of about one ratti per 12 kg of body weight for the main stones. A stone's quality (clarity, no cracks, untreated) matters more than size.

Which gemstones should not be worn together?

Accepted Answer

Stones of enemy planets: ruby with blue sapphire, hessonite or cat's eye; pearl with blue sapphire, hessonite or cat's eye; coral with emerald or blue sapphire; yellow sapphire with diamond or emerald. The result flags conflicts for your stones.

Can I wear blue sapphire without an astrologer?

Tradition treats blue sapphire (and hessonite and cat's eye) as fast-acting stones to be tested for a few days first, and only worn when Saturn is a benefic for the lagna. If Saturn rules your 6th, 8th or 12th, the calculator puts it on the avoid list. When in doubt, do not.

Should I wear a stone for my mahadasha lord?

Many astrologers suggest it — a stone for the planet whose period is running, if that planet is a benefic for your lagna. Check the dasha calculator, then see whether that planet is among your recommended or avoid stones here.

Accepted Answer

The claims are traditional, not tested, and we present them as such. What is certain is that gemstones are expensive and the market is full of treated and synthetic stones. If you decide to wear one, buy certified, start with the life stone, and let no one frighten you into it. We have no shop and sell nothing on this page.
